Bio - Debbi Fontenot

Debbi Fontenot is the Dean of Health Sciences at Alvin Community College. She began her nursing
career as an ADN graduating from ACC in 1985. Her career started at Texas Children’s Hospital where
she held a variety of positions with her favorite being the pediatric liver transplant coordinator. Debbi
received her BSN and MSN as a pediatric nurse practitioner from UT-Houston. After working a short
time as a PNP she made a major career move into nursing education returning to ACC in 2001. Debbi
earned her DNP from Chatham University in 2012 and became director in 2014. Debbi has written
multiple grants that have been awarded including one from the NSNA, two from the THECB for the
Nursing Innovation Grant Program, and four Jobs in Education for Texans (JET) grants. In addition to
being a President for TOADN, Debbi is on the boards of the ACC Foundation and Community Health
Network (a FQHC), and is a member of Soroptimist International. She promoted to Dean in 2022 and has
enjoyed the expanded role overseeing all of the allied health programs as well as the Law Enforcement
Academy, Criminal Justice, and Paralegal programs.
